About Wildomar:Wildomar Homes for Sale

Wildomar, California is a small city in Riverside County that is situated comfortably between a mountain range and its rolling foothills. It began as top on the original Southern California Railroad. Though the town thrived during its peak years in the mid- to late 1800's, the subsequent failure of the railroad due to flooding left the town nearly forgotten. That all changed in the 1990's when the completion of the I-15 freeway put Wildomar back on the map.

It was officially incorporated on July 1, 2008, and its population has nearly doubled in the past decade; it now stands at 28,000+ and growing. Modern-day Wildomar is a city of natural beauty and wide-open spaces. It is progressive yet respectful of its history and the spirit of its founders, which still resides in the hearts of its citizens.

Property in Wildomar is exceedingly affordable, with a wide range of prices from the low of $100,000's to the upper range of the $800,000 mark. Settings are variable as well, with both sculpted neighborhoods and rural settings with acreage available. The demographic makeup is 59 percent married couples, 44 percent of whom have at least one child; the rest of the population is almost equally split between couples and individuals living alone. Three-quarters of the population live in owner-occupied, single family homes, the bulk of the remainder are renters; only three percent of homes are unoccupied.

The city of Wildomar itself is serviced by one local hospital, a public library system, four elementary schools, one middle school, one high schools, three private schools, and a science and cultural arts academy; additional medical facilities, public transportation, and emergency services are provided by Riverside County. The city also provides plenty of organized sports and other activities for children, as well as open spaces and neighborhood parks.

A local historic monument of note is the original school bell from the first Wildomar public school, built in 1886. The bell and schoolhouse were the product of a collaboration between the residents and businesses of the town, as is the monument to it; both were built almost entirely by contributions from the community.

The original school bell was restored to working order and is housed in a permanent monument on the grounds of the present Wildomar Elementary School. The bell has become so deeply rooted in the tradition and mindset of the residents of this proud city that the phrase "Meet you at the bell." has become of part of the local lexicon.

Within a 25-mile radius of Wildomar residents and visitors can find a range of amusements to suit any interest. Historical sites include Mission San Juan Capistrano and the Mission San Antonio De Pala, as well as the Heritage Hill Historical Park. Museums include the West Coast War Dog Memorial-March Field Air Museum, the Hemet Museum, and the Kid Zone Museum. There are also many camping, hiking, and family amusement and recreation areas close at hand.

Whether you prefer living near the city, enjoying the suburban life, or you are an enthusiast of natural and Western history, Wildomar is a beautiful and diverse place to call home.
