About Carmel Valley, California:
Carmel Valley, California is a planned community located in San Diego County, California. It's an upscale enclave consisting of great schools, a family atmosphere, and a variety of shopping, dining, and entertainment experiences. Here's an overview of one of Southern California's newest cities.
Though it was created on the first of February in 1975, construction didn't begin on Carmel Valley until 1983. It's situated on the acreage of what was once a monastery and dairy farm established around 1905 by the Carmelite Sisters of Mercy, from which it gets its name. Though for a time it was known as North City West due to its attachment to the northern section of San Diego, the name Carmel Valley was permanently adopted in the early 1990s.
