Located in Riverside County, Corona, California is a suburb of Los Angeles which is rapidly growing on its own due to the desirability of its location and affordability and availability of its land. This former "Lemon Capital of the World" began as a sleepy agricultural center and has since blossomed into a thriving community of more than 153,000 residents. It is known as the "Circle City," for the circular boulevard which surrounds it and which inspired its name; it stands as the entryway to Southern California's "Inland Empire."
Created at the rise of the citrus boom in Southern California, Corona has a long history as a rural community. Despite its proximity to Los Angeles and the city of Riverside, it is still predominately rural and suburban in nature and is surrounded on three sides by either unincorporated areas, mountains, or nature preserves, including the Cleveland National Forest and the Santa Ana River Canyon.
Corona is the former home of the late Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, as well as a host of other celebrities who enjoy the tranquil surroundings, state-of-the-art golf courses, and other local amenities; Corona has long been a haven from the rigors of the fast life in Los Angeles and other nearby cities, yet it is still close enough to enjoy what these cities have to offer.
Self-sufficient, clean, and relatively crime free, Corona is an educated community that offers residents and visitors a wide range of activities and cultural experiences. It prides itself on the diversity of its population and the quality of life it provides for its residents. It is constantly expanding and has developed into a major industrial and retail center.
The wide availability of land and moderate home prices have caused a housing boom in the community for residents fleeing overcrowding and high prices in neighboring areas. Housing in Corona is extremely affordable, with the median list price currently at around $350,000. Recent offerings range from $75,000 for a two-bedroom bungalow with land to $449,5000 for a five bedroom home on a nicely-manicured, over sized lot. It is served by its own excellent public schools system and emergency management services.
The city, which encompasses nearly 40 square miles, boasts nearly 400 acres of parks with a mix of natural areas for walking or bicycling, sports fields, and plenty of basketball and tennis courts. It also has two skate parks and an outdoor public pool to provide an outlet for younger folks and keep residents of all ages healthy and fit. Corona has a top-notch senior center, an excellent public library system that offers educational programming, and the Fender Museum of Music and the Arts with its plethora of cultural exhibits and programs; there is truly something for every age and interest.
In addition to its own amenities, attractions, and high standard of living, Corona is also close to major theme parks, entertainment venues, beaches, camping, and more. Corona is a city that turns visitors into residents with hardly any effort other than its own unique charm.
